Cera is building a more sustainable future for care

  • Our home-first model of care is around 15 times more carbon-friendly than hospital care.

Our environmental commitment

  • Cera is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050.

  • We have pledged to cut carbon emissions by 10% year-on-year, from a baseline of c. 9kg CO2e per service user per day, to Net Zero by 2050.

How will we achieve this change?

Our technology

  • Our preventative, AI-enabled model reduces emissions-heavy hospital admissions and associated emissions across the healthcare supply chain.

  • From our Cera App and Digital Care Platform to our productivity-enhancing AI tools — our technology drives down paper usage, staff travel and carbon emissions across Cera.

Society

Cera's mission is to empower people to live longer, better lives, in their own homes.

We achieve this across a number of key areas:

Transforming service users' lives

Cera harnesses preventative technology and AI to reduce service user falls by 20% and cut hospitalisations by up to 70%. This saves lives, prevents illness and injury, and improves quality of life and health outcomes for service users across the UK.

Cera's model also reduces isolation, empowering our older and vulnerable service users to continue living at home, remaining connected to loved ones and their local community.

In 2024, Cera expanded into life sciences, embarking on an ambitious programme to give tens of thousands of over-65s the chance to take part in healthcare research studies. This programme aims to advance healthcare research, improving health outcomes and quality of life for over-65s, for generations to come.

Workforce impact

Just as important as prevention in solving the UK's care challenge is rebuilding the care workforce.

Cera is combining cutting-edge technology with industry-leading training to grow the care talent pool – attracting 1 million new carer and nurse applicants over the past two years alone (half from outside the sector). This is the same number of new workers needed across the whole of health and social care by 2040.

This includes a large-scale programme to create thousands of new jobs in care for the unemployed and economically inactive – boosting the economy, rebuilding the care workforce and empowering Britain's millions of "missing workers" to rebuild their lives and careers.

With hundreds of active apprenticeships and 1 million hours of training delivered to date, Cera is working to make care more of a career, with real opportunities for progression.

Our proprietary AI tools speed up recruitment, scale high-quality training, improve staff retention and boost productivity.

Diversity, equity and inclusion

  • More than 82% of Cera employees are women, and overall at Cera, women earn more than men.

  • 60% of Cera's management team are women.

  • In 2024-25, 47% of new starters across our frontline workforce were minority-ethnic.

  • In 2024-25, representation of new starters living with a disability was over twice the industry average.

  • We run mandatory DE&I training for all staff, and have rigorous DE&I-focused recruitment policies in place.

  • Cera's focus on diversity, equity and inclusion is underpinned by a series of employee resource groups dedicated to removing barriers to success for all:
