Ben Maruthappu
Founder & CEO

Ben is a London-based doctor and the Founder & CEO of Cera, Europe's largest HealthTech company and one of its fastest-growing businesses. Under his leadership, Cera is revolutionising healthcare, using technology & AI to shift care from hospitals to patients' homes — creating a more sustainable model for an ageing population.

Cera delivers 2.5 million home visits per month, a volume greater than all visits to NHS A&Es nationwide, with c. $500 million in annualised revenues. Its pioneering technology has reduced patient hospitalisations by up to 70%, saving the UK Government over £1.5 million every day.

Previously, Ben advised the CEO of NHS England on technology and co-founded the NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA), also serving on the Boards of NHS North West London Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, covering a population of over two million people. Ben is a Senior Advisor to Bain & Company, and has advised a range of organisations, from startups to multilaterals, including the Swiss Government and the WHO. He served as Chair of the UK Medical Students' Association (UKMSA) for a decade, authored three medical books, and published over 100 peer-reviewed articles.

Ben was educated at Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard Universities. He has received over 100 awards, including an MBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours (2020), Great British Entrepreneur of the Year (Overall Winner, 2023) and EY's Entrepreneur of the Year UK (Overall Winner, 2024).
